Founded in 1886, RIVIÈRE DU MÂT is one of the oldest distilleries on Reunion Island still active today. Faithful to this heritage, the Master Distiller maintains this ancestral knowledge and tradition with rigour and precision, allowing RIVIÈRE DU MÂT rhums to preserve their reputation throughout the centuries. Located in Saint-Benoît, the distillery produces unique cuvées with aromatic notes that reveal the rich and complex expressiveness of Reunion Island’s terroir. AN ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY APPROACH: With a determination to protect its homeland, the RIVIÈRE DU MÂT Distillery is the only distillery on Reunion Island with a biological treatment process that recovers the residues of distillation. Committed to this ecoresponsible process since 2011, RIVIÈRE DU MÂT contributes to the energy autonomy of the island and promotes the development of a circular economy. The investments in its infrastructure and the developments put into place were done not only with sustainability in mind, but also with a profound respect for the inhabitants and ecosystems of Reunion Island. As a result, the Distillery has received a quadruple Afnor certification. These four labels are a guarantee of the quality of its rum (ISO 9001), the safety of all its employees (ISO 45001), the minimisation of its environmental impact (ISO 14001) and its responsible energy consumption (ISO 50001).
