The History of Cartavio dates back to April 29, 1929, when operations began at the Ron Cartavio plant and the first bottle of Ron Cartavio was produced. In October 1968, due to the agrarian reform process, the Peruvian state took over the operations of the plant. January ten years later, the same Peruvian state established the company Sociedad Paramonga Ltda., which managed the Ron Cartavio plant. In April 1994, a milestone in history was makred when the module of the Chemical and Liquor plants of Cartavio was acquired from Sociedad Paramonga Ltda., and the Empresa Industrial Cartavio S.A. was constituted. They operated until March 2001 and it then changed its corperate name to DESTILERIAS UNIDAD SAC. Since then, Destilerias Unidad S.A.C. has continued to innovate technology in its fermentation, distillation and packaging processes, combining traditional aging techniques and blends, with experienced and trained personnel. After having a continuous process of improvement, modernizing its facilities, consolidating its leadership in the rum category and demonstrating that it has the best rum in the world in the most prestigious international competitions, Destilerias Unidad S.A.C. is reborn under the name CARTAVIO RUM COMPANY, to conquer the entire world.

Tasting Notes:
Appearance: Attractive deep mahogany color.
Nose: Complex and sophisticated, both strong and sweet. Magnificently assembled. Intense aromas of spices, dried fruits, vanilla, and chocolate. Excellent wood integration, with contributions from American, French, and Slovenian oak barrels.
Palate: Very smooth and flavorful. Confirms the excellence perceived on the nose, with extraordinary texture and flavor; long on the palate, very persistent.
